Fort Worth Auto Insurance

November 10th, 2009 — 3:46pm

As with the majority of states, all drivers in Texas are required to carry liability auto insurance. Liability insurance will cover the other driver’s medical costs and car repair if you are at fault in an accident. There are three categories of damage that must be covered; bodily injury for a single person ($25,000), bodily injury per accident ($50,000), and property damage ($25,000). All drivers must carry proof that you have met and maintained the minimum coverage for all three liability types. Mandating all drivers to meet these minimums helps ensure that no matter who is at fault, appropriate repairs and medical care are covered for the victim.

Naturally, you don’t have to pay for just the minimum when it comes to Fort Worth auto insurance. If you want to provide better care for yourself in the event of an accident, regardless of fault or the other driver’s coverage, you will probably want to include comprehensive and collision in your policy. This will require the insurer to pay for damages if you are at fault. There is also coverage that will cover bodily harm if  the other motorist causes the accident but is uninsured. Because Fort Worth had over 2,500 reported vehicle thefts in 2007, you may want to consider protection against theft.

It is always advisable to check out several different companies before purchasing a policy. When you have decided what type of coverage will best suit your needs, you can begin obtaining quotes from different auto insurers in Fort Worth. This also helps you get comparable quotes, instead of being talked into one type of policy by one company, and something different by another. You want the most appropriate insurance at the most reasonable price. While all of the companies will know the insurance regulations for the state of Texas, you can negotiate better and have more confidence in your policy if you already have an understanding of what you need.

If you are relocating to Fort Worth, Texas, with so many things to consider and take care of, you may not feel you have time to look into auto insurance. Think again. With an average commute of approximately 25 minutes to work, you will likely be spending close to an hour in your car, increasing the odds you will be in an accident. A more critical factor to consider is the regulations imposed by the State of Texas.

The aim of this website is to educate drivers in Fort Worth and the entire state of Texas about their options when it comes to auto insurance. We understand that there are more important things in life than car insurance, however we also believe it’s always best to be well covered in case of an accident.

What Exactly Is Comprehensive, Collision, Liability, & Full Auto Insurance Coverage?

November 27th, 2009 — 12:56pm

When speaking about auto insurance, you might have heard the terms liability insurance, comprehensive, collision, and/or full coverage.

As discussed in the post specific to the minimum auto insurance in Fort Worth requirements, liability insurance is that insurance which covers only third party (not the driver) repair and medical expenses. Liability insurance is required by law in Texas and is to ensure proper funds can be afforded to the victim in the event of an accident.

Collision insurance, as suggested by the name, is insurance coverage for the insured vehicle should it be involved in an accident. The purpose of collision insurance here is to pay for repair costs or provide cash settlement should the car be declared a write-off. In simple terms, if you are at fault in an accident and if you have collision insurance in your policy, the insurance company will pay for repairs or a new car (minus the deductible). If you drive with minimum liability insurance and are fault in an accident, the insurance company will pay for repair and/or medical costs to other drivers/vehicles involved in the accident, but will not cover your own costs. Therefor, to be safe, it is always a wise choice to have collision coverage in your policy.

Comprehensive insurance covers damages to your vehicle caused by things other than a collision. These types of things may include natural disasters (floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.), vandalism, theft, fire, etc.

Full coverage refers to the inclusion of liability, collision, and comprehensive coverage on your insurance policy. Although Fort Worth auto insurance regulations may require you to only carry liability insurance, many vehicle lenders (car dealerships, etc.) will require you to have full coverage if you are financing or leasing a vehicle from them.

How The Car Your Drive Affects Your Auto Insurance Rates

November 27th, 2009 — 10:45am

In the previous article, we looked at how your driver profile can affect your Forth Worth auto insurance rate. In this article, we’ll look at a real life case example to illustrate how the car you drive affects your auto insurance rates.

Before we begin, there are just a couple of common ideas people have about car insurance that I thought should be mentioned. These are:

1) Newer cars cost more to insure than older cars
2) Sports coupes (2 door) cost more to insure than 4 door sedans.
3) More powerful cars cost more to insure than less powerful cars.

Do you agree with the above three statements? As these statements might be true in some situations, these are not hard and fast rules to live by. There are many other factors which go into determining your auto insurance rate, as you’ll read below.

A couple of years back, in the fall of 2007, a young man from Fort Worth contacted our agency seeking auto insurance advice for a new car he had just purchased. He had contacted our agency after upgrading from his 1995 Honda Civic LX 4 door sedan to a newer, sportier 2000 Honda Prelude (which is a 2 door coupe for those who don’t know). Needless to say, he was pretty excited about his new car, but not all that excited about changing his auto insurance policy to include his new vehicle. Considering the fact that his new car was five years newer, was a 2 door coupe, and had nearly twice the brake horsepower than his previous car, he was almost certain he’d be paying more for insurance for his new car.

To his pleasant surprise, he actually ended up paying 30% LESS for his auto insurance (after a little help from us), which left him overwhelmed with joy. This actually left him saving approximately $900 a year on his car insurance.

How can this be you ask? Well, after doing a bit of digging, we discovered that his previous car was a highly stolen vehicle and as such was much higher to insure. Although the vehicle itself was fairly cheap, the fact that it was such a prime target for vehicle thefts resulted in significantly higher auto insurance rates.

This goes to show that the only way to really get an idea of how much your auto insurance will cost is to contact the insurance companies directly. Fort Worth Auto Insurance has made this task extremely simple and it is now possible to get multiple auto insurance quotes from different companies in Fort Worth simply by filling out one short form (takes about 6 minutes to complete). Simply provide your driver profile and vehicle details as requested (no personally identifiable  information such as drivers license number or social security number required), and you’ll instantly be presented with multiple insurance quotes to give you an idea of just how much you’re looking at for car insurance and who offers the best rates for your profile/vehicle combination. Remember, different insurance companies cater to different types of motorists, so in order to really find the best auto insurance, you MUST compare at least five different quotes from five different companies. How Your Driver Profile Affects Your Auto Insurance Rates

November 27th, 2009 — 6:45am

Finding the cheapest car insurance in Fort Worth can be a bit of a challenge. Rates vary between insurance companies, and may even vary within the same company for different owners driving the same car. A driver’s profile will be a key factor in determining how much he or she pays for car insurance and what type of quotes they get. Some of the primary factors taken into consideration by the insurance companies when determining a quote include the drivers age and number of years experience, occupation, area of residence, and driving requirements (frequency of vehicle usage).

Young drivers are always slapped with high insurance rates since they are considered inexperienced and immature (mentally).

Living within a city such as Fort Worth will usually result in higher auto insurance rates compared to the same driver living in a more rural setting. This is due to the volume of cars which share the road with you in a city. More cars means more chances of an accident occurring. You area of residence also impacts your rates with regards to the incidence of vehicle theft in your area. Higher incidence of auto theft in your area of residence may result in higher insurance rates, for obvious reasons.

Even something as simple as having a garage to park your car in at night (or not) can influence the rates you pay for your vehicle insurance.

The factors discussed here are all relevant to you the driver and not the the vehicle itself. The car your drive is another major factor in determining how much you will pay for auto insurance and is based on many factors as well. In the next article, we look at how the car you drive impacts your insurance rates.
